- India imported about 200,000 cases of wine. In five years this is expected to grow to 500,000 cases annually.
- Indian wine scenario is on rise and is expected to grow at the rate of 30% annually over the next 10 years.
- Indians consumed a total of 635,000 cases of wine last year. By 2010, the estimated consumption is approximately 1.8 million cases and by 2015 it is expected to hit 10 million cases.
- Red wine has the largest market share of 45% followed by 40% of white wine, and 13% sparkling wine.
- About 85 percent of the imported wine is consumed by hotels and the remaining 15 percent by independent restaurants.
