Crushed rocks, sea spray, lime skins and hints of nectarine create a savory and spicy bouquet as the 2020 Passobianco opens in the glass. It's lifted and finessed, focused on purity, with white pit fruits accentuated by saline-mineral tones. This leaves a salty flourish, along with nuances of lime, while finishing incredibly fresh.
This smokey Sicilian white doesn't just surprise the palate but one's imagination itself when you consider how one remarkable winemaker casually divined a Burgundian standard of Chardonnay at the foothills of an angry volcano in Italy's remote south. Andrea Franchetti is a winemaker par excellence who hasa almost singlehandedly made the volcanic wines of Mount Etna an international rage. Passopisciaro's Passobianco is perhaps the most unique volcanic Chardonnay produced on Italian soil, vinified from grapes grown on high-altitude 1000 metre terraces, and deftly aged in large oak for 10 months. The resulting wine marries the noble grape's inherent rich flavours with volcanic character, yielding honeysuckle, citrus and flinty notes, finishing chean.

Wines under cork are best opened using a corkscrew.
Remove the foil using the corkscrew’s foil cutter and insert the spirally corkscrew into the center of the cork.
Twist in clockwise motion until the corkscrew is entirely inside.
Rest the corkscrew’s lever on the bottle’s lip and pull the handle to bring out the cork.
